Based on a true life story, Reflections of a Quiet Storm is a heart warming story about a woman’s devout faith in God, strength, and courage.

After a near fatal accident, Pauline Bridges, CEO and business owner, has a life-changing experience. God begins to reveal her past. Her story unfolds through a long journey; a pathway that unveils many secrets. Memories, flashbacks, and dreams bring visions of a brutal past. Chronicled in a series of stories, all replay in her mind daily. The torment of an ex-husband’s infidelity and drug abuse, a rape, and the unsolved murder of her former boss, trace just the edges of her pain. Pauline’s faith is challenged as she fights to free herself from the past, deal with family crises, and move forward. Then, Keith Maris steps into her life at a time of deep despair. Will her faith in God and Keith’s support nourish her through a turbulent era in her life?

I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. I am a Christian Fiction writer, adjunct college professor, mental health nurse, and mother of two. Approximately five years ago I started journaling as a form of therapy. Writing a novel was a gift from God--not something I had planned to do. While sitting in front of my computer one day, perusing my notes, I developed my first novel, "Reflections of a Quiet Storm." After writing 9 chapters, I stuffed the manuscript in a drawer and it stayed there for six months. The story, based on some of my true life experiences, strummed too many painful chords--loud and clear. Through the Lord's compassionate guidance, I completed the manuscript and submitted it to two publishers. Jessica Tilles, Chief Editor and owner of XYP, published the novel in March 2009.

It’s 2010, and once again, time to sling the ax and carve out those amazing plans for this year. Before you whittle down that ten-page list, stop. Take a deep breathe, and reflect back. How many of those goals did you carry over from 2009, and what prevented you from accomplishing them? Reflect on things you can do to stay on track in 2010 and the years to follow. Start with consistent prayer for the Lord’s divine guidance in your life. The bible says “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33. Ask the Lord to give you a vision and mission that is His will. When you work for and through Him, you are a reflection of Him. Yes, you will cross rivers and climb boulders. Nevertheless, remain steadfast in your Faith, Reflect on God, and Watch your path change.

Blessings in Christ,
Patricia A. When can you start? Can you work part-time or full-time? Is this what you would like to hear from prospective employers? Well, nursing might be the perfect career choice for you. Before you rush into your counselor’s office and change your major, let me take you on a brief tour of nursing. According to Advance for Nurses Magazine, as the demand for nurses continue to remain high, nurses can expect higher salaries—especially those with specialty skills. Nurses are creative individuals who take pride in their work. The culture of nursing is unique, flexible, and the field is diverse. Nurses work in doctors’ offices, hospitals, schools, insurance companies, home health care agencies, and in other areas. Their positions range from doing bedside care, teaching, and case management, to home health and administration. Advanced education and experience can expand career choices. There are two licensed nurse career options –licensed vocational nurse (LVN) and registered nurse (RN).

So, does this sound good? Do you think you have the patience, compassion, and determination for nursing? If so, do your research (click on the link below), talk to counselors, attend health care fairs and career days, and ask questions. Still curious, and have specific questions about planning for a nursing career? Email me and I’ll try my best to answer your question.

Peace and Blessings,
Patricia A. Decisions by the previous administration have led to the fate of thousands of American citizens who were profoundly affected by job and business losses, staggering housing foreclosures, and a downward spiral into an economic depression. Meanwhile, we still must stand strong and forge on until an imminent change occurs.

Most of us have spent years working hard to make a living. Writers wrote, educators taught, contractors built, yet, in latter years many people barely survived. Despite the chaos in this world, how many people have stopped to take an “emotional break”? The mind and body work together. Our bodies need to be replenished with healthy choices such as: adequate rest, good nutrition, exercise, spirituality, and tranquility.

For 2010, we need to clean out the clutter, lift up the name of Jesus Christ, and pray for love, peace, and harmony in the world. Make time for ourselves; take a deep breathe, exhale, and move forward to great things.

Patricia A.
